What's the name of it? I'd love to check it out.Testhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11553348169865003105noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2025624672024916297.post-62418301198527858852016-01-11T14:37:12.846-06:002016-01-11T14:37:12.846-06:00With the 100 pages rule, it's never about the ...With the 100 pages rule, it's never about the writing for me as it is about the plot and characters! If after 100 pages (which covers more than a couple of chapters!) I haven't connected and/or find myself invested in the characters or where the plot is going, then what's the point to keep going?

I have no problem putting up with writing that might annoy me if I'm at least 50% interested in the outcome of the book (otherwise I would have dropped books like Fates & Furies or Fahrenheit 451...)

And my first read this year was Mr. Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore by Robin Sloan. Now I'm reading The Library at Mount Char by Scott Hawkins. What about you?Testhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11553348169865003105noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2025624672024916297.post-318331430246752962016-01-11T12:26:00.479-06:002016-01-11T12:26:00.479-06:00Good for you! I've found that time expands so everything gets done as long as I don't worry :)
I'm reading a biography about Adam Worth. He was the Napoleon of thieves! More than 100 years ago. I mean, 2015 went by SO quickly that I didn't even have time to implement the resolutions I made back in January of that year. I DO like your 100 pages rule. I'm betting that most authors--the Stephen Kings, the Pattersons, et. al. excepted--think, "If I could just just write that first 5 page chapter better! Somehow! I know she'd continue on to the really really good stuff 100 pages in."

So, what book is number one on your reading list for the beginning of this new year, I wonder?Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03144305081483503950noreply@blogger.com
